Alrighty, I’ve gone ahead and added a “wedding prep” tab to the category menu here on the blog–because that’s what’s going on in my life right now! For my first official post on this topic, I’ve decided to do a post all about our engagement party complete with details on my hair, makeup, and what I wore to the soiree <3
For my party look, I decided to go for a retro 1960’s vibe–a la Betty Draper. I found my dress on Asos, and fell in love with the print and the collar. The dress originally had a drop-waist, which I raised up to channel the retro-style vibes of Dior’s New Look.
For my hair, I really wanted “Old Hollywood” curls with a refreshing side-part (I haven’t worn my hair in a side-part since I was a kid!) And then for my makeup, I went for a really glowy, golden look with lots of falsies in my upper lash line. I opted out of using any eyeliner, to give myself a little more of a natural look.
The engagement party was a dessert reception that we held in my parents’ home. We had all sorts of pastries, candy (obvi), sushi, coffee, booze, and a cigar bar out in the yard.
Jeremy’s cousins brought us a beautiful gift basket with monogrammed towels, so we displayed them on the stairs–and I almost started bawling every time I looked at it, because the monogram just made me super emotional.
